Rachel and Steve are engaged! I had been wanting to shoot a fireside and Christmas lights session for several months and thank goodness they were completely game for it! We started our session at Zoo Lights in The Lincoln Park Zoo, in Chicago. For anyone who has never been, it is a must see attraction in the winter months. The light displays are zoo animal themed and many are coordinated with holiday music. There are ice sculptures being created and Santa is there too! It’s a very impressive display and it’s a great tradition to begin for all ages. I had a great time getting to know these two while we navigated the zoo. We ended the session at Old Oak Tap located on Chicago Avenue in the Ukrainian Village area of Chicago. We shared a couple drinks and chatted fireside. Old Oak Tap is a very cozy and well styled spot that Rachel and Steve had one of their very first dates at. The food is great here and I especially love the Bloody Mary they make so well. Rachel and Steve have a cute story of how they met. It turns out they were both grew up in Pennsylvania not far from each other but were currently both living in Chicago without knowing each other. Their family members made the connection for them and it all started with an introduction on Facebook. The rest is history. It’s one of those situations I think we can all identify with, as we can’t believe a family setup ended up a success and we almost aren’t sure we want to admit to it. Ha! In the end if it leads us to happiness then the heck with our pride! I love how easy breezy these two are and I had a great time getting to know them. Congrats you two.
