Mollie and Fernando met in high school on a set up date to prom by Mollie’s mom. What a rare success! How many of us can say that a date chosen by our mother ever worked out in the end? Not many, but a great story for me to tell for these two who have been together for a very long time ( over 7 yrs I believe ). You can tell that they are both very integrated into ones another’s families as well which makes for such a meaningful day that is very evident through these images. Many parts of that had great meaning and sentiment to them as individuals as well as a couple. Mollie’s Dad, Jack provided Mollie & Fernando’s stylish ride, which was a 1967 Plymouth. Her Dad had started working on the antique car since before Mollie was born and it was finally ready for show! A very proud moment for Mollie and her Dad for sure. I was a fan of Mollie’s hair and makeup. Mollie’s sister Kerry is a part of the team at Salon Halo in Davenport, IA. I do many weddings that these awesome ladies cover and their work is the best in The Quad Cities in my opinion. They are the only Salon I recommend in the area. Kerry did Mollie’s hair as well as many of the bridal party as well. Makeup was covered by the team at Salon Halo. Other highlights of the day shown in the images include to “The Snake Dance” performed at the reception and the mariachi band which were in appreciation to Fernando’s family heritage. All I can say about the Snake Dance is that every wedding should do it. What a blast. I had never seen it done before and for anyone who hasn’t experienced it, this dance for sure bring energy and participation to any reception. “La Vibora de la Mar”. Or the “sea snake”. The wedding guests sing this song and dance hand holding in a circle first then around the couple and then ducking under a bridge formed by the bride & groom standing in chairs in front of each other. You can see all the fun in these crazy fun photos. I love documentary style photos and this definitely allowed me to get in there and really get emotion. Many of the guests had never done it before so they didn’t know what to expect and when you pull people along with force at high speed it creates a undeniable momentum that people who have been drinking find it hard to control. HA! On top of that you have to try not to knock over the Bride and Groom who are being grounded by their wedding party members. It all ended with the guys tossing Fernando up in the air several times like a sack of potatoes. Prestige Music of The Quad Cities was the host of entertainment and Emmanuel organized the whole dance and did a great job with the crowd. Prestige also set up and entire tunnel of people for their introductions that also got everyone participating, Emmanuel was even dancing with the bride and groom at various points in the night. The entire night was high energy. I loved every minute of it! High energy and interactive receptions make for great photos filled with emotion. The night ended with Mollie’s requested photo of her and Fernando under the string lights at Bass Street Landing in Moline. Mollie and her family have been friends to me and my family for well over 20 years and it meant a lot for them to choose me to be a part of their very special day. Thanks so much Mollie and Fernando for an unforgettable experience and one hell of a party!
