Anna said yes to Alex at Olive Park and we all almost had a heart attack. Alex who is from Nashville knew he wanted to propose to Anna at Olive Park because of its stunning views of the Chicago skyline. One thing that has happened a couple times now in my experiece of 22 proposals , is that Chicago Parks District can close a gated park whenever they want without warning. I always go to proposals at least 30 minutes early in case this happens. I always have a plan B as well. Have I mentioned I love proposals because of their unpredictability? Let’s get back to the dramatic story. I arrived 30 mins early and set up shop. The park had scheduled hours to close 2 hours after their proposal so I wasn’t concerned with time but about 10 mins before the proposal, the police came through and announced over their speaker that they were closing the park early ( no reason given ) and everyone had to leave the park ( which is gated & would be locked ), meanwhile Alex had just texted me to say they had arrived and were walking in. HEART ATTACK ENSUES. I flagged down the cop and told him the situation and and he agreed to only let them into the park as long as we only took 10 mins. My inital thought was, I hope Anna doesn’t start asking questions when they enter through a gate guarded by the police. HA! Everything went according to plan and the cop even drove back over and put his sirens on in celebration when he saw that she had said yes. Thank You Chicago Police!!! Moral of the story is, Chicago is unpredictable, ALWAYS. If you are considering hiring a Chicago photographer for your proposal make sure they have experience with not only the Chicago area & with proposals , but with the practices of popular Chicago parks/landmarks as well. Congrats Alex & Anna your proposal the intensity!
