When I first toured The Murphy on my initial walk through I immediately thought it was a old church. There was no altar but definitely a platform to act as one and there are no pews but a an open space that would likely be the place they were once located and there were stained glass windows. I was wrong! This space was built in 1926 by The American College of Surgeons to act as a lecture hall. The architects ( Marshall & Fox ) built this as auditorium to honor John B. Murphy who was a midwest surgeon known as a genius of his time. The architects were inspired by French Renaissance Style. You may not notice but in the balcony of ths auditorium is theatre seating. Naturally the religious look it has with the stage and stained glass windows makes it an ideal venue for weddings. The gold sconces and regal paintings in the entrance and foyer of The Murphy give it an elite feel that makes Chadi & Hannah’s wedding a modern and elegant affair. The Murphy is known for its signature green entry doors which you will see were featured in many photos. I could go on for days about how impeccable and timeless Chadi & Hannah’s taste is but Ill just let you see it for yourself. Im extra pleased with how my off camera flash was able to really showcase all the exquisite details of the room. These dinner room/ ceremony room shots may go down as some of my all time favorites.

Ive mentioned before but I will mention again that I love when a Bride’s dress fits stylistically with the venue and its characteristics. The modern lace of Hannah’s Maggie Sottero dress feel like they were made with the same inspirations. The modern lace in the dress and the way it wraps around the dress is 100% a reflection of the french ornate details found in the wood work of the building.

Other noteworthy details are the invitations that were custom designed by Christina Egan Chang a mutual friend of both Hannah & I ( what a small world! ). The invite feature’s the exterior of the venue on the interior of the envelope. Below I paired one of the invite photos next to an exterior shot of the venue. Check it Out!
